Data Sources
The Delusion Calculator uses real demographic data from official government statistics, national health surveys, and reputable research organizations. Below is a comprehensive list of all data sources used for each of our 40+ country calculators, along with explanations of what each source provides.
How We Use the Data
For each country, we gather data across several categories:
- Demographics & Age Distribution — Population age breakdowns from national census data
- Marriage & Relationship Status — Marital status rates, cohabitation patterns, and divorce statistics
- Income Distribution — Median income and income percentile data from labor/statistics bureaus
- Height & Body Composition — Average heights and BMI/obesity rates from health surveys (CDC, NHS, WHO, etc.)
- Sexuality & LGBTQ+ Identification — Self-identification rates from polls and census data
- Race & Ethnicity — Population composition from census data using country-specific categories
- Eye & Hair Color — Population estimates from genetic studies and demographic surveys
All percentages are estimates based on the most recent available data. Where exact figures aren’t available for a specific country, we use data from the closest comparable source.

General Methodology Notes
- All calculations are performed client-side in your browser — no data is sent to our servers.
- Each filter dimension is treated as an independent probability factor. The final percentage is the product of all selected filter percentages.
- When a filter is set to “Any” or all checkboxes are selected, that dimension contributes a multiplier of 1.0 (100%), meaning it has no effect on the result.
- Income data is adjusted for each country’s currency and cost of living. Income brackets reflect local purchasing power.
- Height data is converted to country-appropriate units where applicable.
- Race/ethnicity categories use each country’s official census terminology to accurately reflect how populations are measured locally.
Data is sourced from the most recent publicly available statistics as of early 2026.
